Overview
Christian Bendayán (b. 1973, Iquitos, Peru) is an artist whose practice explores Amazonian identity, popular culture and contemporary society.
Working across painting, drawing and mixed media, he draws from urban life, mythology and the visual culture of the Peruvian Amazon. His practice combines figurative imagery with personal narratives, sexuality and collective memory.
Bendayán has exhibited internationally, including presentations at the Havana Biennial; Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI), Lima; and museums, biennials and institutions across Latin America, Europe and the United States.
