Overview

Cecilia Paredes (b. 1950, Lima, Peru) is an artist whose practice explores identity, transformation and the relationship between the body and its environment.

Working across body painting, photography, performance and installation, she draws from the body, nature and place. Her practice employs photo performances to create visual illusions.

Paredes has exhibited internationally, including presentations at the Venice Biennale; the Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg; and museums, biennials and institutions across Latin America, Europe, Asia and the United States.
